Hemopet, the nation’s only full-service, non-profit veterinary diagnostic facility and canine blood bank, recently announced the creation of The Richard Baker Laboratory. Richard Baker is a founding partner of Messina Baker Entertainment Group, is a Los Angeles talent management and production agency specializing in comedy entertainment. He currently co-manages the career of Tim Allen and is an Executive Producer of the ABC sitcom “Last Man Standing”. Baker has been a long term client of Hemopet’s diagnostic services for his dogs and serves on the Hemopet Board of Directors.
Hemopet consists of three components:
• Hemopet – a non-profit animal blood bank providing blood components and supplies to veterinary clinics throughout the United States and internationally.
• Pet Life-Line – a Greyhound rescue-donor-adoption program. Hemopet rescues retired racing greyhounds that would otherwise be put down. The dogs periodically donate blood for no more than 12-18 months, after which they are adopted into permanent family homes. The facility currently houses about 200 dogs, a census that changes often as dogs are adopted out and new ones arrive.
• Hemolife – a non-profit specialty veterinary diagnostics laboratory servicing veterinarians and pet owners nationally and internationally.
Baker has been a generous supporter of Hemopet’s mission over the years by donating commercial washing machines and flooring to provide the facility with optimum care for the resident Greyhounds. The present donation will support the expansion of Hemolife’s laboratory technology into automated immunoassay robotics. “We are truly grateful to Richard for this donation. The Richard Baker Laboratory will allow us to better service the growing national and international demand for Hemopet’s diagnostic services to help with the care and therapy of companion animals everywhere,” said Hemopet’s Founder and President, W. Jean Dodds, DVM.
“We are committed to providing the highest standard of specialized diagnostic services to address the expanding demand, which we could not do without the generous support of our donors and community sponsors who believe in our mission.” said Dr. Dodds.
